New York Secretary of State Walter Mosely announced on Tuesday that the City of Poughkeepsie has been awarded $10 million in Downtown Revitalization Initiative (DRI) funding. The announcement was made on the Poughkeepsie waterfront, where elected and civic leaders gathered to celebrate the latest winners of DRI grants and NY Forward funding.

Poughkeepsie joins a list of cities including Middletown, Kingston, New Rochelle, Haverstraw, Ossining, and Port Jervis that have received funding since the DRI program began in 2016.

Poughkeepsie Mayor Yvonne Flowers expressed her satisfaction with the award: “I’ve witnessed years of careful planning and community collaboration that led us to completing a new comprehensive plan, which provided us with a blueprint for the growth of our city.” She credited former mayor Rob Rolison for his efforts during his seven-year tenure before he was elected to the State Senate. “This is what cooperation and collaboration looks like,” she added.
