Dutchess County Executive Sue Serino and Office of Veterans Affairs Director Adam Roche have announced a series of events aimed at honoring local veterans. These events, which include the Red, White and You! Picnic and two Veterans Pasta Dinners, are scheduled to take place this fall across Dutchess County. All three gatherings are free for local veterans and one guest, though registration is necessary due to limited seating. Interested participants can register by emailing CountyExec@dutchessny.gov or calling 845-486-2000.

“It is always an honor to celebrate and thank our local veterans for the tremendous sacrifices they have made for our country and communities, and these events are a small way to show our full appreciation,” said Dutchess County Executive Sue Serino. She emphasized that these events not only provide opportunities for socializing but also connect veterans with available services through the Office of Veterans Affairs or Mental Health America Dutchess County Veterans Programs.

The first event, the Third Annual Red, White, and You! Veterans Appreciation Picnic, will be held on Saturday, October 19th from 11 am to 2 pm at James Baird State Park in Pleasant Valley. The picnic will feature food from Tavern 23 and live music by The StringMasters.

Following this event are two Veterans Appreciation Pasta Dinners: one on Sunday, October 27th from 4-6 pm at American Legion Post 429 in Rhinebeck; the other on Sunday, November 3rd with seatings at either 2 pm or 5 pm at Knights of Columbus in Hopewell Junction.

Veterans Services Director Adam Roche stated that “the mission of the Dutchess County Office of Veterans Affairs is to serve, support and celebrate our local veterans in gratitude for all they have done to serve our nation.” He expressed appreciation for Sue Serino's ongoing commitment to supporting veterans through such initiatives.

For more information about these events or veteran services offered by Dutchess County, individuals can contact the Office of Veterans Affairs at 845-486-2060 or visit their website at www.dutchessny.gov/Veterans.
