In recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Dutchess County Executive Sue Serino is partnering with the Walkway Over the Hudson to host a free 'Breast Cancer Awareness Day.' The event aims to connect individuals with organizations and health services and will take place on Saturday, October 5, 2024, from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM on the Poughkeepsie side of the Walkway Over the Hudson (61 Parker Avenue, Poughkeepsie, NY 12601).
Dutchess County Executive Sue Serino, who is currently in remission after being diagnosed with breast cancer in 2020, stated, "Our community is home to some incredible organizations and resources that go above and beyond to help individuals and families who are fighting a breast cancer diagnosis, and I’m thrilled to be once again partnering with the Walkway Over the Hudson to bring them together, in one place. Breast Cancer Awareness Month is a great reminder to put your health first and make the appointment for your annual screening; the organizations participating in this year’s event have the support and help an individual may need to get started."
The following organizations will be present at the event:
- American Cancer Society Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Hudson Valley
- Mid-Hudson Regional Hospital, a member of WMC Health
- Sparrow’s Nest of the Hudson Valley
- The Dyson Breast Center at Vassar Brothers Medical Center, part of the Nuvance Health Cancer Institute
- Dutchess County Department of Health
This event is free and open to the public. An RSVP is not required. For more information, please call the Dutchess County Executive’s Office at 845-486-2000 or email CountyExec@dutchessny.gov.
