U.S. Congressman Mike Lawler, who represents New York’s 17th district, has recently shared his views on key international and local issues through social media posts. Lawler, who succeeded Mondaire Jones in 2023 and formerly served in the New York State Assembly from 2021 to 2022, took to Twitter to address various concerns, including international sanctions and voting regulations.
On April 2, 2025, Congressman Lawler expressed his position on international sanctions by commenting on a measure aimed at curbing support to Iranian terror proxies. He stated, "Russia’s support for Iranian terror proxies fuels attacks in the Middle East - which is completely unacceptable. These new sanctions strike a major blow to the procurement network supplying Iranian terror proxies, and severely hinder the Houthis’ ability to disrupt international".
Later that same day, Lawler posted another tweet, posing a question to the public regarding election integrity in New York. He asked, "Do you support stronger citizenship verification measures to ensure only U.S. citizens are voting in New York elections?" The congressman also provided a link to participate in a survey on the same issue.
In a consecutive tweet, Lawler encouraged his followers to engage with the survey he shared, writing, "Fill out my survey here: https://t.co/VhK8jBLOZM".
