Congressman Mike Lawler, representing New York's 17th district, has been vocal on issues related to Iran and its actions in the Middle East. Through a series of tweets, he addressed concerns about Iran's funding sources and the response from U.S. leadership.

On March 9, 2025, Congressman Lawler criticized the Biden Administration and Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer for their perceived inaction regarding Iran. He stated, "The House took meaningful steps to address this. Unfortunately, Chuck Schumer and the Biden Administration failed to act. Their inaction allowed Iran to continue raising money to sponsor terrorism unchecked."

In another tweet on the same day, Lawler expressed support for a recent decision aimed at curbing Iran's financial resources. He remarked, "I commend the decision to revoke the waiver — it’s a crucial move toward holding Iran accountable for its actions. Cutting off Iran’s access to funding is essential for global security and peace efforts in the Middle East."

As Chairman of the Middle East and North Africa Subcommittee, Lawler reiterated his commitment to addressing terrorism linked to Iran. On March 9, 2025, he tweeted his dedication to ensuring accountability for destabilizing activities by stating, "As Chairman of the Middle East and North Africa Subcommittee, I remain committed to ensuring that Iran faces consequences for its destabilizing actions. We must stop terrorism at its source."
