Congressman Mike Lawler, representing New York's 17th district, shared a series of tweets on March 9, 2025. The tweets cover topics ranging from local sports achievements to international policy decisions.

In his first tweet, "Congratulations to Tappan Zee High School’s Boys Basketball team on a win in the Section 1 Class AA Championship! Fourth title in program history and a stand-out game — way to make us all proud, guys!" Lawler celebrated the victory of Tappan Zee High School's Boys Basketball team in the Section 1 Class AA Championship. This marks their fourth title in the program's history.

On the same day, Lawler tweeted about legislative actions concerning Iran. In one post, he stated that "Previously, in the 118th Congress, the House passed H.R. 5971 (No Funds for Iranian Terrorism Act) to address the threat posed by Iran’s support for terrorism by cutting off a source of their funding." This reflects ongoing efforts within Congress to mitigate perceived threats from Iran by targeting financial resources.

Additionally, Congressman Lawler highlighted a decision made by the Trump Administration: "Today, the Trump Administration revoked the waiver that has allowed Iraq to purchase electricity from Iran. This marks a significant step in ensuring that Iran can no longer use its resources to fuel violence and destabilize the region." The revocation is presented as part of broader measures aimed at curbing Iran's influence and activities considered destabilizing.
