On January 22, 2025, Congressman Lawler expressed his commitment to supporting the Laken Riley Act. He stated: "We will ensure that no other family endures the pain that Laken Riley's family has - the Laken Riley Act is headed to President Trump's desk and will be signed into law soon! Proud to have supported its passage." The act is named after Laken Riley and aims to address specific concerns affecting families.

Later on the same day, Lawler paid tribute to a prominent community figure from Nyack. He remarked: "It was a privilege to honor the life of Miles Taylor on the House Floor yesterday. He commended President Trump's decision by stating: "We are done caving to Iran and its terror proxies - this is the right move by President Trump here to designate the Houthis as a foreign terrorist organization once again.
