Congressman Mike Lawler, representing New York's 17th district, recently shared a series of tweets highlighting various initiatives and concerns. Lawler, who has been serving in Congress since 2023 after replacing Mondaire Jones, touched on topics ranging from education to national security.

On November 18, 2024, Congressman Lawler congratulated the graduates of the Ossining Padres Hispanos Home Health Aide Program. He noted that they were presented with Congressional certificates to commemorate their achievements. "Congratulations to the new graduates of the Ossining Padres Hispanos Home Health Aide Program! We proudly presented the grads with Congressional certificates commemorating the culmination of their hard work."

Later that day, Lawler expressed his concerns regarding China's involvement in the U.S. securities industry. In a tweet posted at 18:52 UTC, he emphasized the need for prompt action to address this issue and reiterated his commitment to working with colleagues on this matter. "My colleagues and I on the @FinancialCmte have long raised concerns about China's intrusion into the U.S. securities industry. This threat must be taken seriously and addressed expeditiously."

In another tweet on November 18 at 21:48 UTC, Lawler addressed rising costs in higher education and proposed legislative action aimed at reducing federal student loan interest rates through the Affordable Loans for Students Act. He highlighted how high-interest rates make it difficult for students to manage their principal balances effectively. "Nowhere have costs skyrocketed more than in higher education... That's why I'm introducing the Affordable Loans for Students Act, which would lower the federal student loan interest rate…"
