Assemblyman Matt Slater has announced that Kiwi Country Day Camp has been recognized as a Historic Business. This designation acknowledges the camp's commitment to providing a safe and educational environment for children.
"Kiwi Country Day Camp has been a cornerstone of our community, offering enriching experiences and lifelong memories for generations of families," said Slater. "This recognition as a Historic Business highlights not only the camp's exceptional history but also the impact it continues to make in shaping young lives in Putnam County and beyond."
The camp was founded in 1952 by Lou and H Bellotto. It is known for its high-quality programs focused on outdoor activities, sports, arts, and education. Will Yahr, Director of Kiwi Country Day Camp, expressed gratitude for the recognition: "For 72 years, Kiwi Country Day Camp has been committed to having everyone around us become the best versions of themselves... We are honored to be recognized as a New York State Historic Business."
Christine Picone from the Greater Mahopac-Carmel Chamber of Commerce congratulated the camp: "Congratulations to Will and Kiwi Country Day Camp for being honored as a Historic Business of Putnam County." Michael Cazzari, Town of Carmel supervisor, added: "Kiwi Country Day Camp’s designation as a Historic Business is a proud moment for our community."
The camp will be featured in the New York State Historic Business Registry.
