Claverack recently issued the following announcement.
Claverack has joined the NYS Climate Smart Communities (CSC) Program and is looking for volunteers to serve on a Climate Smart Task Force for Claverack.
The NYS Climate Smart Communities (CSC) program is a state-wide effort, directed by the NYS Dept. of Environmental Conservation to support communities to increase energy efficiency and the use of renewable energy sources while reducing greenhouse gas emissions, increasing adaptation to a changing climate, and saving money for taxpayers.
The program involves taking actions across the ten categories of the Climate Smart pledge.
The Task Force will advise on and initiate activities relating to energy efficiency, GHG emissions and adapting to climate change for Claverack in accordance with the CSC framework.
Committee members will help research and plan projects, including applying for program grants for which the town is eligible under CSC. While most CSC actions are modest, the cumulative effect can be substantial, both ecologically and financially.
