Some parents in Dutchess County are advocating for more rigorous background checks for businesses that interact with children. This call to action highlights concerns about the safety and security of children when they are under the care of individuals employed by these businesses.

State Senator Rob Rolison, representing parts of Dutchess County, has voiced his support for this initiative. He is a co-sponsor of a proposed bill aimed at changing current laws regarding background checks. "Family members should be able to feel confident that the individuals who are working with their children, have access to their children, especially when they're not there, have been fully vetted," Sen. Rolison stated.

The proposed legislation seeks to ensure that those who work closely with children undergo thorough vetting processes, thereby providing peace of mind to families entrusting their children's safety to such organizations.
