Mike Lawler criticizes prison reform efforts by Governor Hochul

Congressman Mike Lawler, currently serving New York's 17th district in the U.S. Congress, has taken to social media to voice his opinions on various issues concerning state and national policies. Through a series of tweets, Lawler has expressed his stance on prison reform, congestion pricing, and health program funding.

On February 21, 2025, Congressman Mike Lawler tweeted about his collaboration with Assemblyman Matt Slater and County Legislator James Nolan in opposing Governor Hochul's efforts at prison system reform. He criticized the governor for neglecting the system and emphasized the need to support corrections officers: "Yesterday, I was joined by Assemblyman Matt Slater and County Legislator James Nolan to take a stand against Governor Hochul's embarrassing attempt at fixing the broken prison system she has continuously neglected. It's time to support the brave corrections officers who serve our..."

Later that day, Lawler posed a question regarding congestion pricing policy under the Trump Administration. On February 21, he asked constituents for their opinions on this matter: "Do you support the Trump Administration's move to cancel congestion pricing? Let me know!"

In another tweet posted on February 22, 2025, Lawler expressed satisfaction with the Trump Administration’s decision to heed concerns raised by him and his colleagues over proposed cuts to the World Trade Center Health Program. He highlighted his leadership role in reversing these cuts: "Thrilled that the Trump Administration took our concerns seriously in our letter earlier this week and immediately reversed proposed cuts to the World Trade Center Health Program. I am proud to have led this effort with my New York colleagues to right this wrong."
