Congressman Mike Lawler, currently representing New York's 17th district, recently addressed several issues through his social media platform. The tweets cover a range of topics including state prison management, educational engagements, and immigration policies.
On February 20, 2025, Congressman Lawler criticized Governor Kathy Hochul's handling of New York State prisons. He stated: "Kathy Hochul has lost control of New York State's prisons. Sending in the National Guard after creating a mess with the HALT Act and forcing corrections officers to work 16-24 hour days is not the answer."
Later that day, he shared his experience visiting Suffern Middle School. He tweeted: "I had a fantastic time at Suffern Middle School, where I talked to students about the Constitution, my job in Congress, and the bright future ahead. I am grateful to represent the Hudson Valley and look forward to visiting more schools to hear from the next generation of leaders!"
In another post on February 20, Lawler urged for an extension of Temporary Protected Status for Haitians residing in the United States. He expressed: "I urge the Administration to extend Temporary Protected Status for the many Haitians in our country. This is critically important for the Haitian community in the Hudson Valley."
