Congressman Mike Lawler, representing New York's 17th district, shared a series of statements on February 13, 2025, addressing various issues and commemorating individuals. Lawler has been serving in the U.S. Congress since 2023 after replacing Mondaire Jones and previously served in the New York State Assembly.

On February 13, 2025, Congressman Lawler paid tribute to Christopher Katz, a young Westchester native who aspired to become a Capitol police officer. In his tweet, he stated: "Yesterday, I remembered the life of Christopher Katz, a 22-year-old Westchester native and aspiring Capitol police officer, on the House floor. A bright and dedicated young man, he will be deeply missed."

Later that day, Lawler criticized Governor Kathy Hochul's response to Con Edison rate hikes as inadequate. He expressed his views through another tweet at 16:31 UTC: "Gov. Hochul's response to Con Ed rate hikes is nothing more than a political gimmick. New Yorkers deserve a comprehensive energy strategy that actually lowers costs and sets realistic goals."

In another statement made at 17:35 UTC on the same day, Lawler conveyed his condolences for Firefighter John Gaudet from Binghamton who had passed away. His tweet read: "Deeply saddened to learn of the loss of Firefighter John Gaudet in Binghamton. My thoughts are with the Binghamton Fire Department, the Gaudet family, and all those affected by JR's loss."
