Congressman Mike Lawler, who has been representing New York’s 17th district since 2023, recently addressed several pressing issues through a series of tweets. Lawler, born in Suffern, New York, and an alumnus of Manhattan College, highlighted concerns regarding international conflicts, healthcare legislation, and immigration expenditures.

On February 11, 2025, Congressman Lawler expressed strong disapproval towards Hamas for their treatment of hostages. "For over 16 months, Hamas has held hostages in subhuman conditions. Now, they are once again breaking the terms of the ceasefire and trying to use these hostages for their own survival. The failure to immediately release the hostages should result in severe and unrelenting…" he stated.

Later that day on February 11th, he advocated for bipartisan healthcare legislation aimed at addressing physician shortages across the country. "The bipartisan Doctors in Our Borders Act will tackle the physician shortage we're facing and ensure folks in communities across the country get the care they deserve."

Concluding his commentary on February 11th was a critique of financial expenditures by New York City and State concerning illegal immigration. He commented that "New York City and New York State have spent billions upon billions of dollars on folks who crossed the border illegally, including Tren de Aragua members and other criminals. The insanity has to stop!"
