Congressman Mike Lawler, who has represented New York's 17th district since 2023, shared a series of tweets addressing various issues on February 8 and 9, 2025. These posts reflect his ongoing engagement with community recognition, international affairs, and domestic policy.
On February 8, Lawler commemorated the renaming of a post office in honor of Sheriff Butch Anderson. He stated that "Renaming this post office honors Sheriff Butch Anderson’s lifetime of service. His dedication to Dutchess County left a lasting impact, and his legacy will live on."
Later the same day, Lawler expressed gratitude for the return of individuals from an undisclosed situation while criticizing Hamas. He emphasized the need for global awareness regarding the group's actions by saying "We are thankful they are finally home. May these images serve as a stark reminder to the UN and all the other Hamas apologists around the globe of just how horrific Hamas truly is."
On February 9, Lawler addressed antisemitism concerns within educational institutions. He criticized certain members of the Biden Administration for ignoring antisemitism on campuses and highlighted ongoing investigations into four schools by civil rights officials. He promoted his legislative initiative with "Many in the Biden Administration sadly looked the other way as antisemitism spread on campus. Now, civil rights officials are rightfully investigating four schools. My Antisemitism Awareness Act will ensure Jew hatred is called out and stopped on campus."
