New York Assemblyman Slater expressed dissatisfaction with Governor Hochul's recent State of the State address. In his remarks, Slater criticized what he perceives as ineffective leadership and lack of concrete solutions from Albany.

"New Yorkers deserve leadership — we’re sick of the Albany double talk that makes headlines but fails to deliver real solutions," Slater stated. He pointed out that even Governor Hochul's supporters were left confused by her address.

Slater argued against the notion of free government services, emphasizing that someone ultimately bears the cost. "The fact is there is no such thing as a free service from government — someone has to pay for it," he said.

He further criticized the state's current economic policies, attributing them to an affordability crisis. "This State of the State decried the affordability crisis we are facing, which is a crisis caused by years of out-of-control tax and spend policies," Slater noted.

Slater described Governor Hochul's proposals as politically motivated efforts lacking clarity on funding sources. "What we heard today was a desperate political attempt to spend hundreds of billions of dollars without a single detail on who is going to pay for it," he concluded.
