Assemblyman Matt Slater has announced that Tompkins Community Bank has been recognized as a Historic Business. In December, Slater presented a New York State Assembly proclamation to the bank for its inclusion in the New York State Historic Business Preservation Registry, following his nomination last year.

"Tompkins Community Bank has been a cornerstone of our community since 1927, adapting and evolving to meet the needs of families and businesses in the Hudson Valley," said Slater. "This recognition highlights its extraordinary legacy of service and leadership. Congratulations to the entire team on this well-deserved honor."

Slater added, "Few organizations truly embody the spirit of a community-focused institution, but Tompkins Community Bank clearly does. By prioritizing the needs of its customers and neighbors, they have set a high standard for businesses across New York."

Located in Putnam County, Tompkins Community Bank, formerly Mahopac National Bank, has served the Hudson Valley for almost 100 years. The bank is known for providing innovative financial solutions and supporting local growth.

Tompkins Hudson Valley President David M. DeMilia expressed pride in their recognition as a Historic Business: “Our roots in the Hudson Valley extend back to 1927 when Mahopac National Bank was founded... We thank Assemblyman Matt Slater for working to recognize Tompkins’ history.”

Putnam County Executive Kevin Byrne stated, “Tompkins Community Bank has been an integral part of Putnam County’s history and economic growth... This recognition by New York state is well-deserved.”

Town of Carmel Supervisor Michael Cazzari also acknowledged the bank's role: “I am proud to acknowledge Tompkins Mahopac Bank... As a recognized Historic Business, it has been a key part of the Town of Carmel community.”

Chairwoman Christine C. Picone from the Greater Mahopac Carmel Chamber of Commerce extended congratulations: “With a legacy of serving the community since 1836, we are proud to have such an esteemed landmark in Putnam County.”

The New York State Historic Business Preservation Registry honors businesses contributing significantly to their communities' history and identity. Eligible businesses must have operated for at least 50 years.

Tompkins Community Bank joins other distinguished businesses through this initiative. During his first term, Slater also nominated Stuart’s Fruit Farm and Kiwi Country Day Camp for similar recognition.
