Slater hosts event honoring local veterans at Hall of Fame ceremony

Assemblyman Matt Slater recently hosted a Veterans Hall of Fame ceremony to honor veterans from various towns within his district. The event aimed to recognize the bravery and service of local heroes who have contributed significantly both in military and civilian capacities.

The ceremony highlighted diverse stories from veterans across the district, showcasing their courage and commitment. Slater emphasized the importance of honoring these sacrifices to inspire future generations. "It is a privilege to recognize these extraordinary men and women who have given so much for our country and our communities," said Slater. He added that their service forms the foundation of freedom, stressing the duty to ensure their stories inspire young people.

This event reflects Slater's dedication to advocating for veterans' recognition and support. Through this annual ceremony, he aims to foster community appreciation for those who served.

"The Town of Putnam Valley would like to thank Assemblyman Matt Slater for continuing the tradition of honoring our Hometown Heroes," said Jacqueline Annabi, Putnam Valley Town Supervisor. She expressed pride in nominating James (JD) Apostolico for his service.

Ed Lachterman, Yorktown Town Supervisor, praised Slater's commitment: "Recognizing veterans for their accomplishments and giving them a chance to pass on their stories made for an outstanding morning."

Nick Durante, Southeast Town Supervisor, also expressed gratitude: "Thank you, Matt Slater, for your service in the Navy and your dedication to veterans."

Honorees included James Apostolico from Putnam Valley, Michael Cairney from Patterson, John Duncan from Southeast, Otto Romanino from Kent, Anthony Delduco from Carmel, Nils Mockler from Yorktown, and Denis Timone from Somers.
