Assemblyman Matt Slater has announced the approval of three legislative proposals by Governor Kathy Hochul, aimed at benefiting the communities within the 94th Assembly District. The newly signed laws focus on enhancing recreational areas and generating revenue for community projects in Yorktown, Kent, and Putnam Valley.

Slater expressed satisfaction with the collaborative effort, stating, “I’m proud to have worked with our local leaders to make sure New York State is addressing their individual needs.” He emphasized that these bills demonstrate a commitment to improving residents' daily lives and ensuring vibrant communities.

The first bill (A.10161A) permits Yorktown to repurpose certain parklands to improve wireless capacity, identified as necessary by a regional master plan. Yorktown Supervisor Ed Lachterman commented on Slater's bipartisan efforts: “Assemblyman Slater has been great at working across both sides of the aisle to get things accomplished for our community.”

The second and third bills (A.9273B) and (A.6776B) allow leasing sports field fences for advertisements in Kent and Putnam Valley. The revenue generated will be allocated solely for maintaining Guglielmo Field and Leonard Wagner Memorial Park. Jacqueline Annabi, Town Supervisor of Putnam Valley, praised Slater’s balanced solutions: “This will have a meaningful impact on our ability to provide better services within our Parks and Recreation Department.”

Jaime McGlasson, Town Supervisor of Kent, also expressed gratitude: “These monies will be used to fund recreational spaces and other investments in our community without increasing taxes.”
