Dutchess County Executive Sue Serino today announced the launch of the Youth Wellness Support Microgrant program. The initiative offers grants up to $20,000 each to fund local programs aimed at fostering well-being among youth and preventing substance use and other destructive behaviors.
County Executive Serino stated, “Our young people have always been, and must continue to be, a priority for all of us in Dutchess County. With our new Youth Wellness Support Microgrants, we are excited to encourage creative, youth-oriented programming and messaging that can nurture our young people and help them avoid the pitfalls of substance use. Ensuring they have activities and programming to bolster their health and well-being builds a healthier community for generations to come.”
The program invites proposals from nonprofit organizations, municipalities, and grassroots organizations that offer evidence-based wellness activities benefiting youth under age 25. Grant awards range from $5,000 to $19,000 per recipient, with a total of $200,000 available. Funding comes from opioid settlement funds obtained through litigation against the pharmaceutical industry. Applications are now available online via Dutchess County’s grant portal and will be accepted on a rolling basis while funds last.
The 2024 Youth Wellness Support Microgrant Program targets several key areas: prevention of substance use disorders, public awareness activities, social media awareness, and safe use. Proposals should align with one or more of these focus areas.
Guidance on the application process is available online. Applicants must comply with Dutchess County’s Procurement Policies and Procedures. For more information on the grant program and application process, contact Sandi Pierson at spierson@dutchessny.gov.
