The Dutchess County Department of Public Works (DPW) will commence work on or about August 5th to replace a culvert on Milan Hill Road (CR-54) between Willow Glen Road and Woody Row Road, in the Town of Milan. The section of Milan Hill Road near the construction site will be closed, with a detour posted along Becker Hill Road and Turkey Hill Road (CR-56).

The project includes replacing the culvert, installing new inlet and outlet headwalls, widening the road to include three-foot shoulders, and installing new guiderails to enhance roadway safety. Construction is expected to be completed by the fall of this year, at which point the road will be reopened to traffic.

This segment of Milan Hill Road sees an average of approximately 480 vehicles per day.

Motorists are advised to allow extra travel time and exercise caution near the construction area and along the detour route. They should adhere to posted speed limits, traffic advisory signs, and directions from flaggers to ensure the safety of workers and other drivers.

For more information, please contact the Dutchess County Department of Public Works’ Engineering Division at (845) 486-2925.
