Assemblyman Matt Slater (R,C-Yorktown) partnered with Putnam Community Action Partnership (CAP) to provide feminine hygiene products to clients throughout Putnam County. A total of 267 items were collected, benefiting more than 200 women and teen girls.

"Menstrual products are a modern-day necessity; every woman from every economic background has a need for them," said Slater, who introduced a proposal allowing SNAP benefits to be used for purchasing menstrual products (A.10130).

"We appreciate the partnership of all the towns in the 94th Assembly District that provided drop-off locations, making it quick and accessible for all residents to participate throughout the month of May. It really makes a difference when we come together to help our neighbors in need," Slater added.

Marisa O’Leary, director of Putnam Community Action Partnership, expressed gratitude: "We thank Assemblyman Slater and his team for recognizing that feminine hygiene products are a basic necessity and for organizing this drive on Putnam CAP's behalf. We are overwhelmed by the generosity of our community. This donation will allow us to assist more than 200 women and teen girls with these much-needed items. We are grateful for the Assemblyman's partnership in working toward a healthier community for all."
