Assemblyman Matt Slater (R,C-Yorktown) has announced a new initiative in partnership with Putnam Community Action Partnership (CAP) to provide essential feminine hygiene products to those in need in Putnam County. This initiative comes on the heels of a successful Diaper Drive in March.
The feminine hygiene drive aims to address the high demand for these products, which cannot be purchased using SNAP benefits. Slater expressed his gratitude for the support received from various towns in the 94th Assembly District, stating, "We appreciate the leadership of all the towns in the 94th Assembly District that are providing drop-off locations, making it quick and accessible for all residents to drop off donations throughout the month of May. I strongly encourage those who are able to make donations and help support those struggling to afford basic care products."
Marissa O’Leary, Director of Putnam Community Action Partnership, emphasized the importance of feminine hygiene products as necessities, not luxuries. She expressed gratitude for Assemblyman Slater's efforts in ensuring equitable access to these products, which helps alleviate the economic burden on women and allows them to allocate resources to other essential needs. O’Leary added, "We are grateful for Assemblyman Slater's support in ensuring equitable access to these products, as it reduces the economic burden placed on women and enables them to allocate those resources to other basic needs."
Drop-off locations for the feminine hygiene products will be available throughout the 94th Assembly District from May 1 through May 31. Residents are encouraged to contribute to the drive and support those in the community who may struggle to afford these essential care products.
