Assemblyman Matt Slater (R,C-Yorktown) joined the New York Chapter of “Run for Their Lives” in a press conference urging for the release of 134 hostages currently held in Gaza. The hostages, which include men, women, elders, and children, have been separated from their families for 179 days since the terrorist attacks on October 7th.

During the conference, Slater emphasized the importance of unity and support for the hostages, stating, "There should be no political divide in ensuring the safe and immediate return of the 134 hostages who continue to be held against their will and in violation of international law." He further expressed his commitment to the cause by saying, "We will not stop until each one is released and those responsible are held accountable."

Slater's call for action comes as a reminder of the ongoing plight of the hostages and the need for concerted efforts to secure their safe return. Rabbi Robbie Weiner of Temple Beth Am highlighted the importance of standing together with the Jewish community during these challenging times, emphasizing the solidarity needed in advocating for the release of the hostages.

The demand for the immediate release of the hostages in Gaza echoes a sentiment of urgency and determination to ensure the well-being and freedom of those unlawfully detained. As efforts continue to push for their liberation, the voices raised in support of the hostages serve as a beacon of hope in the pursuit of justice and compassion.
