When New York state Sen. Rob Rolison received news of a National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) bridge safety report, he sought to understand efforts to tackle the issues outlined. The report calls for safety evaluations following the collapse of a Baltimore bridge due to a ship collision last year. Thirteen bridges in New York are mentioned.

“We just have to make sure that everything that can be done to make sure that they travel safely [is done]... These bridges carry lots of cars over the major transportation corridors," Rolison emphasized.

Rolison, alongside state Sens. James Skoufis and Michelle Hinchey, addressed a letter to the state Department of Transportation, advocating for the necessary safety evaluations to be undertaken.
