Congressman Mike Lawler, representing New York's 17th district, communicated his positions and activities through a series of tweets in mid-April 2025. His statements address international diplomacy, local welfare programs, and community engagement efforts.

On April 15, Lawler expressed a firm stance on the United States' diplomatic dealings with Iran. He stated, “Any deal with Iran must include a complete end to their nuclear program. No exceptions.” This tweet underscores his unwavering position on international nuclear negotiations.

Later that evening, on the same date, Lawler addressed domestic issues by announcing he had sent a communication to the Secretary of Health and Human Services, Robert F. Kennedy. He wrote, “Today, I sent a letter to the Secretary of Health and Human Services, Robert F. Kennedy, with concern over the reported layoffs of staff responsible for administering the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP). This program is vital in assisting families in the Hudson”. This reflects his advocacy for continued support for essential social services amid reported reductions.

On April 16, 2025, Lawler informed constituents of an upcoming Town Hall event in Rockland County. He invited the community via the post: “Join me Sunday, April 27 at 6 PM at Clarkstown South High School for my Rockland County Town Hall— doors open at 5:15! RSVP will be required, visit https://t.co/Dw5ss0o6FH to sign up.” This event aims to foster community dialogue and engagement.

Mike Lawler has served in the U.S. Congress since 2023, marking his transition from the New York State Assembly where he served from 2021 to 2022. He replaced Mondaire Jones to represent New York’s 17th district, covering areas like Rockland County. Born in 1986 in Suffern, New York, he resides in Pearl River and possesses a Bachelor of Science degree from Manhattan College, conferred in 2009.
