Congressman Mike Lawler, who represents New York’s 17th district in the U.S. Congress, has shared updates on several pressing issues through his social media posts. Serving since 2023 after replacing Mondaire Jones, Lawler has previously served in the New York State Assembly and currently resides in Pearl River.

On January 28, 2025, Congressman Lawler addressed a public safety concern with the arrest of a gang leader near an NYC elementary school. He emphasized that this action is "another step in making our communities safer."

The following day, on January 29, 2025, Lawler expressed gratitude for the safe return of hostages from overseas but stressed the importance of continued efforts towards peace in the Middle East. He noted that this involves holding accountable groups such as Hamas and their supporters in Tehran. "Bringing the hostages home is critical," he stated.

Later on January 29, Congressman Lawler extended greetings for the Lunar New Year to those celebrating. He wished them "new beginnings and positive transformations."
