Dutchess County Parks announces diverse fall programs including archery, art classes, and special events

Dutchess County Parks has announced a series of programs and events for the fall season. The offerings include weekend archery, adult art classes, country music line-dancing, a disc golf league, and a Special Olympics Polar Plunge.

Dutchess County Executive Sue Serino remarked, “No better place to be than at one of our fantastic Dutchess County Parks in the fall! With the leaves changing, scenic views and fun programs and events planned, we hope everyone takes the chance to come outside and enjoy the season. We are grateful to the team at Parks for their dedication to bringing activities and events to our beautiful parks, ensuring there really is something for everyone!”

The Fall Naturalist Program Schedule features Weekend Public Archery sessions starting Saturday, September 14 at Bowdoin Park. These sessions will run on various Saturdays through November 16. The program is designed for children aged 8 and up as well as adults. The cost is $70 per person.

The Park Palette Art Series for Adults will take place at Bowdoin Park on October 9, October 17, and October 22 from 6-7:30 pm in Pavilion 5. Each workshop costs $12 per person.

Registration for these programs opens on September 10th online at www.DutchessNY.gov/ParksEducation.

Additional fall programming includes "Boots By the Hudson," a country line dancing event scheduled for Saturday, October 5 from 3:30-8:00 pm at Upper Landing Park in Poughkeepsie. The event features line dancing with CJ McIntyre and Frank Alexander, music by Thunder Ridge Band, family activities organized by Mid-Hudson Discovery Museum, a scavenger hunt, bonfire with s’mores, and food trucks. Pre-registration is not required.

The Wilcox Disc Golf League will meet weekly on Sundays from October 6 through November 10 at Wilcox Memorial Park’s Disc Golf course. All skill levels are welcome.

Special Olympics New York – Hudson Valley Region will host a Polar Plunge on Saturday, October 26 from 10 am – 2 pm at Wilcox Memorial Park in Milan. Participants can register as teams or individuals at http://events.nyso.org/2024WilcoxPark.
