Assemblyman Matt Slater was appointed on Mar. 13 to the Economic Development Conference Budget Committee by the Assembly Minority Conference as part of New York’s Fiscal Year 2026-2027 state budget negotiations.

The committee focuses on policies and investments that affect job creation, workforce development, and economic competitiveness.

“I’m honored to be appointed by Leader Ra to represent the Assembly Minority Conference on the Economic Development Conference Budget Committee,” Slater said. “At a time when families and businesses across New York are facing serious affordability challenges, it’s critical that we focus on policies that support job growth, strengthen our local economies and ensure taxpayer dollars are spent responsibly.”

Slater said he intends to advocate for measures supporting small businesses, encouraging economic investment, and making New York more affordable for both residents and employers. “As budget negotiations move forward, I will continue fighting for responsible fiscal policies that prioritize affordability and opportunity for the communities I represent in the Hudson Valley,” he added.

Slater has previously supported local relief efforts for hurricane victims, worked on veteran honors, and contributed to environmental designations according to his official biography.
