Putnam County State Senator Rob Rolison has joined 29 other state officials in urging the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to continue the cleanup of PCBs from the Hudson River. According to Rolison, EPA Administrator Lee Zeldin and Regional Administrator Mike Martucci should declare a “not protective” determination as part of the agency’s ongoing five-year report.

The demand comes in the context of increasing concerns about the environmental safety of the river. The officials are asking the EPA to reassess the cleanup standards and take action to ensure the health and safety of the waterway.

Rolison stated, “We need to ensure the Hudson River is safe for the communities and wildlife that depend on it.” The EPA is currently reviewing the recommendations as part of its periodic report.

Both administrators, Zeldin and Martucci, have yet to respond publicly to the request.
