Assemblyman Matt Slater (R,C-Yorktown) presented a proclamation from the New York State Assembly to Radovich & Dean Music in Carmel on November 6, marking the store’s addition to the New York State Historic Business Preservation Registry. The registry is overseen by the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation & Historic Preservation and recognizes businesses that have operated for at least 50 years and contributed significantly to their communities.

Radovich & Dean Music, established in 1973, has served the Hudson Valley as a family-run business. The store was founded by David Radovich, a multi-instrumentalist and band director, and his wife Cindy Dean Radovich, a classically trained pianist. Originally located in Lake Carmel, it later moved to its current site in the Hamlet of Carmel. The business offers instruments, music instruction, and repair services to students and professional musicians alike. Their daughter Tiffany now manages The Studios, which serves as the lesson department.

Slater said: “Cindy and Dave should be exceptionally proud of the musical community they have built in the Hudson Valley. Their passion for music, education and service shines through everything they do at the store and in their classrooms. It’s an honor to recognize their incredible legacy.”

Cindy Dean Radovich commented: “Music has always been a family affair for us, from my father Rudy Dean and now onto our daughter Tiffany. We are grateful to Assemblyman Slater and the state of New York for recognizing the decades of work our family has poured into this business and our community.”

Christine Picone, president of the Greater Mahopac-Carmel Chamber of Commerce stated: “Cindy, David and their family have inspired so many students and musicians over the decades. The Chamber is proud to see a local business with such deep roots in our area honored by the state for its incredible legacy. Thank you to Assemblyman Slater for supporting our local businesses and congratulations to Radovich & Dean!”

Slater has previously nominated other local businesses for this recognition including Boyd Artesian Well Company, Tompkins Community Bank, Stuart’s Farm, Kiwi Country Day Camp, and Summer Trails Day Camp.
