A news release from the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office announced that a missing person has been located deceased. The department noted that the information provided in its releases is for historical purposes and may become outdated over time. “Information contained within the releases was believed to be accurate at the time of issuance, but the contents of these Releases can become out-of-date over time and the Sheriff’s Office does not warrant the accuracy, completeness, or the reliability of the information displayed,” stated the release.

The Sheriff’s Department also clarified it does not have an obligation to update previously issued information unless required by law. “The Sheriff’s Department will not and specifically disclaims any duty to update the information in these Releases to reflect subsequent events or circumstances in the matters reported, except as otherwise required by applicable law,” according to their statement.

Additionally, they reminded readers that individuals charged with a crime are presumed innocent until proven guilty in court. “A person charged with a crime is presumed to be innocent of the offense until proven guilty in a court of law,” read part of the announcement.
