Assemblyman Matt Slater participated in the second annual New York State Assembly charity softball game, held at Hudson Valley Community College. The event brought together members from both the Assembly Minority and Majority conferences for a friendly competition aimed at supporting local food pantries.
The game featured two teams: the Assembly Minority Conference’s “Barclay’s Bombers” and the Majority Conference’s “Carl’s Crushers.” Barclay’s Bombers emerged victorious with a 14-10 win. Proceeds from the event will benefit the Food Pantries for the Capital District, which aids over 70 food pantries in the region.
“It was great to step away from the Capitol and come together for something we can all agree on—helping those in need,” said Slater. He expressed gratitude to everyone who participated and supported an organization that assists families across several counties.
Assembly Minority Leader Will Barclay commented, “There’s nothing quite like a game of softball to bring people together, spark some friendly competition, and make a positive impact in the community.” He thanked contributors for their donations and support.
Assemblyman Clyde Vanel noted that although his team did not win, they successfully raised over $10,000 for local food pantries. He looks forward to next year’s event to reclaim victory while continuing to support charitable causes.
