Congressman Mike Lawler, representing New York’s 17th district since 2023, used his platform to convey messages of reflection, remembrance, and engagement on May 1, 2025. Lawler, who has also served in the New York State Assembly and is a graduate of Manhattan College, engaged his audience through a series of posts highlighting national observances and community interaction.

On May 1st, Lawler commemorated the National Day of Prayer by urging individuals of all faiths to reflect and pray for unity. He stated: “National Day of Prayer is a time to pause, reflect, and pray for our nation, our communities, and each other. No matter your faith, take a moment today to lift up hope, peace, and unity.”

Later that day, Lawler honored fallen service members by attending the Carry the Load memorial, emphasizing the importance of remembrance. Lawler expressed: “This week, Team Lawler attended the Carry the Load memorial. We will always honor and preserve the legacy of those who made the ultimate sacrifice for this country.”

In the evening, Lawler reflected on his interaction with students from NYC Collegiate School and Saint David’s School during their visits to Washington D.C. Lawler stated: “It was a pleasure to meet students from NYC Collegiate School and Saint David’s School during their D.C. visits this week. We had a great conversation about civics, leadership, and being engaged citizens.”

Lawler, who lives in Pearl River, New York, continues to emphasize civic engagement and remembrance through his commitment to his community and nation.
