Congressman Mike Lawler, representing New York’s 17th district, recently shared insights and initiatives through a series of tweets. His comments address both international relations concerning Taiwan and energy strategies for New York.
On June 5, 2025, Congressman Lawler emphasized the need for proactive measures in response to the geopolitical tensions involving Taiwan. He stated, “We can’t afford to take a wait-and-see approach while the CCP threatens Taiwan, coerces its neighbors, and expands its military reach. This task force will help lay the groundwork for a strategic alliance rooted in democratic values, mutual defense, and long-term security in the region.” This highlights his advocacy for establishing a strategic alliance to uphold democratic principles and ensure regional security.
Later that day, Lawler addressed energy policy within New York State. He posed a question to his constituents via Twitter: “Do you agree that New York should pursue an all-of-the-above energy approach to ensure a stable, affordable, and secure power grid? Take my survey.” This tweet invites public participation in shaping state energy policy through an online survey.
In another tweet posted at almost the same time, he provided direct access to participate in the survey by sharing a link: “Take my survey here: https://t.co/H79eZbxy8y” This encourages further engagement from constituents regarding their views on energy strategy.
Congressman Mike Lawler has been serving since 2023 after replacing Mondaire Jones. He was previously part of the New York State Assembly from 2021 to 2022. Born in Suffern, New York in 1986, he resides in Pearl River and holds a BS degree from Manhattan College obtained in 2009.
