Congressman Mike Lawler, representing New York’s 17th district since 2023, recently shared insights and messages through a series of tweets. As an active member of the U.S. Congress, Lawler engages with his constituents on various issues, from international affairs to community celebrations.

On June 5, 2025, Congressman Lawler expressed his honor in chairing a hearing for the House Foreign Affairs Committee’s Middle East & North Africa Subcommittee. The hearing focused on “After Assad: The Future of Syria,” where expert witnesses discussed Russia’s ambitions and regional power dynamics impacting U.S. national security.

Later that day, he extended warm wishes for Eid al-Adha to those celebrating in the Hudson Valley and globally. In his tweet, he emphasized the values of compassion, generosity, and community associated with the holiday.

In another tweet on June 6, 2025, Lawler recognized Father Bob Stagg on the House floor as he retired after half a century of ministry. He thanked Father Bob for his faith and leadership within their community.

Lawler has served in Congress since replacing Mondaire Jones in 2023 and previously held office in the New York State Assembly from 2021 to 2022. Born in Suffern, New York in 1986, he resides in Pearl River and holds a BS from Manhattan College.
