Congressman Mike Lawler, representing New York’s 17th district since 2023, shared a series of tweets on June 7, 2025, reflecting on various community events and initiatives. Lawler, who previously served in the New York State Assembly from 2021 to 2022, highlighted significant cultural and environmental contributions within his district.

On June 7, Lawler marked the upcoming anniversary of New York’s legalization of same-sex marriage. He stated: “This June 24th, we celebrate the 14 year anniversary of New York legalizing same-sex marriage. An historic step forward in the fight for equality. Happy Pride Month.”

Later that day, he noted his team’s participation in a local cultural event: “Team Lawler stopped by the 28th Annual Asian American Heritage Festival — a vibrant celebration of culture, food, and community. Proud to honor the contributions of Asian Americans across the Hudson Valley.”

In another tweet posted on June 7, Congressman Lawler emphasized the importance of natural resources in his region: “In the Hudson Valley, our parks, trails, and waterways are more than just scenic assets. Mike Lawler was born in Suffern, New York in 1986 and currently resides in Pearl River. He graduated from Manhattan College with a Bachelor of Science degree in 2009.
