Matt Slater, a public official and active community figure, used his social media platform to honor veterans and the United States Marine Corps in a series of posts on November 10 and 11, 2025.
On November 10, Slater marked the anniversary of the Marine Corps by stating, “For 250 years, members of the United States Marine Corps have protected our nation and defended our freedoms. Happy Birthday to the USMC!”
Later that day, he highlighted his participation in a local event for veterans: “The Veterans Appreciation Chow Down brings together hundreds of local veterans to celebrate, share a meal, and honor their service. I was proud to sponsor and attend this year’s 11th annual gathering—an early start to Veterans Day and a personal tribute to all of our veterans in”
On Veterans Day itself, November 11, Slater posted another message recognizing those who served: “Thank you to all who have served and the families who stood beside them. Our freedoms and our communities are stronger because of you. God bless our veterans “
Slater’s public acknowledgments coincide with national observances honoring military service. The United States Marine Corps celebrates its birthday each year on November 10, commemorating its founding in 1775. Veterans Day is observed annually on November 11 as a federal holiday dedicated to honoring all American military veterans.
