Assemblyman Matt Slater honored local women leaders from the 94th District at a ceremony held at Carmel Town Hall. The event recognized women who exemplify community values, with honorees including Doris E. Crowder of Putnam Valley, Jennie Menton of Yorktown, Councilwoman Suzanne McDonough of Carmel, Rachel Roberts of Patterson, Yolanda “Lana” Cappelli of Kent, Kim Henry of Southeast, and Patricia Kalba of Somers. Local elected officials attended the event to celebrate these individuals.

“It’s truly an honor to stand alongside these remarkable women who represent the very best of our communities,” said Slater. “They go above and beyond, both personally and professionally, and remind us of the power of compassion and real leadership. In a time when selflessness is increasingly rare, these women set a shining example.”

Yorktown Town Supervisor Ed Lachterman praised Jennie Menton’s long-standing community involvement and her work with Support Connection. “Jennie has been a beacon of community involvement for years in Yorktown,” he stated.

Carmel Town Supervisor Mike Cazzari highlighted Councilwoman Suzi McDonough’s dedication to the community: “Her dedication, care, and love for this community have made a real difference.”

Southeast Town Supervisor Nick Durante noted the challenge in selecting distinguished women from their town but emphasized this year’s choice as a testament to their strength.

Patterson Town Supervisor Richard Williams commended Rachael Roberts for her commitment since joining Patterson: “The Town Board was proud to nominate Rachael Roberts to Matt Slater’s 2025 Women of Distinction.”

Somers Town Supervisor Robert Scorrano reflected on Robert Castelli’s service contributions after returning to Somers and his recognition at the naming ceremony for the Somers State Trooper barracks.

Putnam Valley Town Supervisor Jaqueline Annabi expressed gratitude for Assemblyman Slater’s initiative: “The Town of Putnam Valley is proud to recognize Doris E. Crowder as this year’s Woman of Distinction.”

Kent Town Supervisor Jaime McGlasson acknowledged Lana Cappelli’s dedication as Town Clerk: “Her commitment to our community makes her a truly deserving nominee for the Women of Distinction Award.”
