Congressman Mike Lawler, representing New York’s 17th district, recently shared several updates and reflections via social media. Currently serving in the U.S. Congress since 2023 after succeeding Mondaire Jones, Lawler continues to prioritize healthcare and welfare improvements while also acknowledging significant cultural observances.
On April 17, 2025, Lawler announced, “Today, Congressman Gottheimer and I reintroduced the Gabriel Rosenberg Dyspraxia/DCD Coverage Act. This legislation will help to ensure healthcare coverage for children and adults who are struggling with dyspraxia/DCD.” This legislative proposal aims to address gaps in healthcare coverage for individuals affected by dyspraxia/DCD.
In a later post on the same day, Lawler emphasized his stance on Medicaid benefits, stating “I will never vote to take Medicaid benefits away from eligible recipients. I am committed to strengthening these programs by ensuring only eligible recipients are receiving benefits.” Lawler insists on maintaining and strengthening welfare programs while ensuring adherence to eligibility requirements.
The next day, on April 18, 2025, Lawler shared a message in observance of Good Friday, reflecting on the spiritual significance of the day. He expressed, “On Good Friday, we pause to reflect on the power of sacrifice, love, and hope. For all who observe, may this day bring peace to your heart and light to your path.” This message acknowledges the importance of reflective practices and cultural observances.
Mike Lawler was born in Suffern, New York, in 1986, and now resides in Pearl River. He completed his studies at Manhattan College with a Bachelor of Science in 2009.
