The Dia Art Foundation is set to host a series of free film screenings at Dia Chelsea, beginning July 9, 2025. The program will feature works by Kishio Suga and Renée Green, complementing their major exhibitions at Dia Beacon.

Kishio Suga’s presentation, titled “Being and Murder,” is co-organized with Keio University Art Center. It will run from July 9 to August 9, showcasing film and video works either featuring or created by Suga. This includes the philosophical murder-mystery film “Being and Murder” (1999), which he directed for his exhibition at the Yokohama Museum of Art in Japan. The program also features video documentation of his performative activations and discussions with artists like Yutaka Matsuzawa and Nam June Paik.

Renée Green’s installation “Americas : Veritas” will be on display from August 13 to September 6. This marks the New York premiere of her work, originally created during her residency at Harvard University’s Carpenter Center for the Visual Arts. The single-channel film has been reimagined as a four-channel installation with a techno soundtrack. Shot in the United States and Argentina, it explores Le Corbusier’s structures in these regions, reflecting on his utopian aspirations versus reality.

The program concludes with a public conversation with Renée Green on September 6 at Dia Chelsea.

Kishio Suga was born in Morioka, Japan, in 1944 and graduated from Tama Art University in Tokyo. His work often uses unaltered materials to explore their relationship with surroundings and perception. He has had numerous solo exhibitions worldwide.

Renée Green was born in Cleveland in 1959 and studied at Wesleyan University before participating in the Whitney Museum’s Independent Study Program. Her multidisciplinary practice examines perception through various lenses including literature and history.

Dia Art Foundation was established in 1974 to enable artists to realize ambitious projects without traditional constraints. It operates several sites including Dia Beacon, Dia Bridgehampton, and Dia Chelsea along with international projects focused on Land art.
