Congressman Mike Lawler, representing New York’s 17th district since 2023, has been vocal on social media about various historical and legislative issues. A series of tweets from June 6, 2025, reflect his engagement with both commemorative events and policy advocacy.

On June 6, 2025, Congressman Lawler commemorated the anniversary of D-Day by highlighting the courage of American soldiers during World War II. He tweeted: “81 years ago today, thousands of young Americans, including many from New York, stormed the beaches of Normandy, knowing they might never return. Their courage turned the tide of history and helped free a continent from tyranny.”

Later that day, Lawler addressed economic concerns affecting American families. He expressed urgency in dealing with rising housing costs through legislative measures. In a tweet posted at 15:09 UTC on June 6th, he stated: “Housing costs are crushing families, and Congress must act. My HUD Accountability Act ensures the HUD Secretary testifies before Congress every year. No more years-long gaps.”

Continuing his focus on economic issues and policy solutions for middle and working-class families, Congressman Lawler shared insights from his recent op-ed in the New York Post. On June 6th at 16:38 UTC he wrote: “In my latest @nypost op-ed, I explain how the One Big Beautiful Bill addresses affordability, supports middle and working class families, raises the cap on SALT, and extends key tax cuts from the TCJA of 2017.”

Mike Lawler has been serving in Congress since succeeding Mondaire Jones in 2023 after previously serving in the New York State Assembly from 2021 to 2022.
