Congressman Mike Lawler, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing New York’s 17th district, shared his legislative priorities and remarks on recent events through a series of tweets. Representing his district since 2023, Lawler replaced Mondaire Jones and had previously served in the New York State Assembly from 2021 to 2022.

On April 13, 2025, Lawler outlined his agenda for the 119th Congress, focusing on key priorities, including lifting the SALT Cap, protecting Medicaid, Medicare, and Social Security, and making housing and groceries more affordable. The congressman expressed his commitment to these issues over the next 262 days. “Hard at work for you in the 119th Congress! My top priorities over the next 262 days: Lifting the SALT Cap Protecting Medicaid, Medicare, and Social Security for eligible recipients Continuing to make housing and groceries more affordable”

In a tweet on April 14, 2025, Lawler condemned political violence and expressed relief that Governor Shapiro and his family were safe. “Political violence, of any magnitude, is unacceptable. I am glad to hear that @GovernorShapiro and his family are safe.”

Later in the day, Lawler reflected on his participation in the food distribution efforts by Tomchei Shabbos in Rockland County, expressing gratitude for their work in supporting families in need, particularly as Passover commenced. “Last week, I joined Tomchei Shabbos for their food distribution in Rockland County. I’m grateful for the incredible work they do to support families in need and ensure everyone has food on the table, especially as Passover began this past weekend.”

Lawler, born in Suffern, New York, in 1986, resides in Pearl River and graduated from Manhattan College in 2009 with a Bachelor of Science degree.
