These updates include diplomatic efforts concerning hostages in Gaza, participation in local community events, and engagement with constituents.
On May 11, 2025, Congressman Lawler announced that he led a bipartisan letter to the Trump administration urging President Trump to maintain “maximum diplomatic pressure” to secure the release of hostages held in Gaza. He expressed optimism about the potential return of Edan Alexander, stating “Today, I’m thrilled by the news that we may soon have Edan Alexander return.”
Later that evening on May 12, 2025, Lawler highlighted Team Lawler’s attendance at the 149th Annual Dinner for the S.W. Johnson Steam Fire Engine Company No. 1 in Garnerville, New York. He acknowledged several individuals for their service: Harold Price, Joseph DeLucia, Jose Guzman, Donald Joachim, and Paul Nilsen. In his tweet he noted “We proudly honor and thank [them] for their years of service.”
On May 12, 2025 as well, Congressman Lawler reported Team Lawler’s participation at the Suffern street fair alongside Senator Bill Weber’s team. The event focused on meeting constituents and discussing assistance with federal agencies. Lawler encouraged constituents to reach out if they needed help by stating “If you ever need assistance, don’t hesitate to reach out.”
Mike Lawler has been serving in Congress since replacing Mondaire Jones in 2023 after previously serving in the New York State Assembly from 2021 to 2022. Born in Suffern in 1986 and now residing in Pearl River, he graduated from Manhattan College with a Bachelor of Science degree.
