Congressman Mike Lawler has voiced his concerns through social media regarding recent events and celebrations in his district. Lawler, who represents New York’s 17th district in the U.S. Congress, shared a series of tweets addressing a local film center’s programming decisions and community events.

On March 31, 2025, Congressman Lawler criticized the Jacob Burns Film Center’s decision not to screen a documentary. He expressed that “I’m holding the Jacob Burns Film Center accountable for refusing to screen October 8th – a critical documentary exposing the rise of antisemitism after Hamas’s brutal attack on Israel. The Hudson Valley deserves balanced programming, not biased curation driven by anti-Israel.”

Following this, Lawler posted a link to a release for readers to seek further information. He stated, “Read the full release here: https://t.co/MDfn0Zvahk” on March 31, 2025.

On April 1, 2025, Lawler participated in a celebration with the Greek-American community. Highlighting his appreciation, he tweeted, “I had a great time celebrating Greek Independence Day with the Greek-American community! Proud to support strong U.S.-Greece ties and honor the values of hard work, family, and faith that resonate in the Hudson Valley. Thanks to the Federation of Hellenic Societies of Greater New.”
