Congressman Mike Lawler of New York took to social media this week to discuss recent engagements and activities. Lawler serves in the U.S. Congress representing New York’s 17th district, a position he has held since 2023 after replacing Mondaire Jones. He has previously served in the New York State Assembly and has a background in political science from Manhattan College.

On March 31, 2025, Congressman Lawler expressed his honor in presenting a proclamation to Michael J. Bassett, commenting on his “50 years of service with the Scarborough Engine Company and the Briarcliff Manor Fire Department.” Lawler remarked that Bassett’s “dedication to the Briarcliff Manor and Ossining communities is truly inspiring.”“I was honored this weekend to present a Proclamation to Michael J. Bassett for 50 years of service with the Scarborough Engine Company and the Briarcliff Manor Fire Department. His dedication to the Briarcliff Manor and Ossining communities is truly inspiring.”

Later that day, Lawler announced his appearance on CNN’s The Arena, inviting followers to watch him discuss relevant political topics, stating: “Watch LIVE now on CNN’s The Arena as I join Kasie Hunt to talk tariffs, Signal, and more!”

Following his appearance, Lawler tweeted about concluding the discussion on CNN, highlighting the importance of bipartisan discourse, saying: “Just wrapped up a great conversation on @CNN The Arena. Always glad to discuss important issues in a bipartisan way and find common ground for the good of my constituents. Thanks to @KasieHunt and her team for having me!”
