Congressman Mike Lawler, representing New York’s 17th district, shared his thoughts on various issues through a series of tweets. Lawler, who succeeded Mondaire Jones in 2023 and previously served in the New York State Assembly, has been vocal about recent events and legislative efforts.
On May 5, 2025, Lawler tweeted about an incident at his town hall meeting. He stated: “Today, a radical far-left activist, who was escorted out of my town hall last night by state police after repeatedly disrupting the event, disrespecting fellow attendees, abusing my staff, and ignoring orders by state police, compared her experience to the brutal murder of six”.
Later that day, Lawler discussed a legislative matter concerning international boycotts. In his tweet from May 5, he explained: “This bill amends existing law and focuses on institutional pressures, not personal choices, ensuring that Americans are not forced to participate in unsanctioned boycotts promoted by IGOs like the UN. I look forward to leadership bringing this critical legislation to a vote.”
On May 6, Lawler attended a congressional screening for the documentary “October 8.” He expressed gratitude towards those involved with the film: “I attended the bipartisan congressional screening on the ‘October 8’ documentary. Thank you to Wendy Sachs, the film’s director as well as the Jewish Federation of North America for having me.”
Mike Lawler is currently serving in Congress after taking office in 2023. Born in Suffern in 1986 and residing in Pearl River now at age 36, he graduated from Manhattan College with a BS degree in 2009.
