Syracuse University offered the highest average coaching salary in New York in 2024, amounting to $298,430.

Coaches at New York post-secondary schools earned an average salary of $32,449 in 2024, reflecting a 2.6% increase from $31,622 the previous year.

A Knight Commission report projects that within a decade, some Power 5 football coaches will earn more than their schools spend on scholarships and medical care for all athletes. The study estimates more than $1 billion in new annual revenue from the expanded College Football Playoff and media rights deals.
