The City of Poughkeepsie will hold its annual Festival of Lights and Tree Lighting Ceremony at Waryas Park this Friday. The event will feature music, food, and activities for children, including roasted marshmallows, hot chocolate, apple cider, popcorn, and visits from Santa Claus and Mrs. Claus. A tree lighting and fireworks display are also planned.

According to the city, the Department of Public Works has been preparing since September to ensure that the park is ready for the festival.

“This celebration is a chance to come together, enjoy each other’s company, and celebrate the strength and warmth of our community. We can’t wait to share this special evening with you and your family,” city officials said in a statement.
